Riesling Trocken 2024 – Weingut Thanisch

Extremely steep slate vineyards on the Mosel, some cultivated by the same family for eleven generations.

The Thanisch estate has its roots in the 17th century in Bernkastel-Kues, in the heart of the German Mosel, where the family has for centuries cultivated the steep slate slopes that give the area's Rieslings their unmistakable minerality. It was Dr Hugo Thanisch, in the 19th century, who brought the estate international renown.

The grapes, hand-harvested on the steepest slopes of the Middle Mosel, give a fresh, direct dry Riesling: citrus and green apple in the foreground, supported by the slate minerality typical of the appellation, with a lively acidity that makes the sip taut and thirst-quenching.

Perfect as an aperitif, it pairs well with fish and shellfish, lightly spiced Asian cuisine, or fresh goat cheese.
