Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 – La Ca' Nova
It's the "young" Nebbiolo of the winery, but it comes from the same hands and the same land as the Barbaresco: the Rocca family's more recent vineyards.
La Ca' Nova dedicates this wine to selections of Nebbiolo grapes coming from younger plantings than those reserved for the Barbaresco DOCG. Vinification still follows the winery's traditionalist philosophy: spontaneous fermentation in steel for 16-18 days, followed by about 14 months of ageing in large oak casks and a further 4 months resting in bottle.
The result is a Nebbiolo that is more immediate and approachable than its "older brother" Barbaresco, yet with the same varietal imprint: a nose of red fruit and rose petals that turns spicy with oxygenation; on the palate it is already ready when young, with a present but soft tannin.
Excellent with Piedmontese cured meats, vitello tonnato, pasta with meat ragù, or not-too-aged cheeses.
