Langhe DOC Arneis – Tenuta Il Falchetto
It's born in Priocca d'Alba, but the winery that produces it is in Santo Stefano Belbo — the same birthplace as writer Cesare Pavese.
Tenuta Il Falchetto has been owned by the Fornos family since 1940, historically better known for Moscato d'Asti and Barbera than for white wines from Arneis, a grape native to the nearby Roero area. With this label the winery brings to one of the classic zones of the Langhe a grape that traditionally grows on the other bank of the Tanaro river.
The colour stays a light straw-yellow; a first sniff reveals green apple and a floral hint, while the sip stands out mainly for its acidic freshness and a savouriness that extends the finish, keeping the wine light and never tiring. Serve chilled, between 10 and 12°C: good alone as an aperitif, equally good at the table with light starters or fish.
