Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Les Dames Huguettes en Fûts" 2022 – Domaine Guy Simon & Fils

It's the same cru as Faiveley's wine, but on a completely different scale: Domaine Guy Simon & Fils produces it in Marey-lès-Fussey, one of the lesser-known villages of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.

In the 1970s, when the land of the Hautes-Côtes was gradually being replanted with vines after a long period of abandonment, the Simon family was among the first to believe in it. Today the estate is run by the son, who trained as an oenologist at a professional institute in Beaune, carrying forward the family's work in this elevated corner of Burgundy.

The term "en Fûts" indicates the passage in barrique, which here is more pronounced than in the winery's base Bourgogne: the nose is marked by small red fruits accompanied by distinct woody notes, while the palate becomes round and silky, with the breadth and body typical of the area.

Excellent with red meats, poultry in sauce, and Burgundian dishes such as coq au vin.
