Grappa di Sangiovese – Il Cerro
The first distillery in Emilia-Romagna to use exclusively Romagna grape varieties: the founder himself declared this to the Customs Agency when applying for the licence.
Il Cerro was born in 2024 in Cerreto, a hamlet of Saludecio, among the hills of Rimini a stone's throw from San Marino. The distillery is the project of Enrico Venturini, who at 14 started distilling with his grandfather's small still — a local grape grower — before building one of his own. Today it produces at most 1,500 bottles a year, working the freshest pomace collected right after the harvest, between September and November, to preserve aromas and quality.
This grappa is made from Sangiovese pomace, the most identity-defining red grape of Romagna. It is a young grappa, not aged in wood: the profile is direct and vinous, with tones of red fruit and cherry, clean warmth and a dry finish typical of grappas from red grape varieties.
Serve as an after-dinner digestif, at a temperature of about 16-18°C.
