Wine and Aniseed Ring Biscuits – Il Lorese

Among the ingredients is mistrà, the aniseed liqueur typical of the Marche coast and hinterland: rare to find it directly in a biscuit.

Azienda Agricola Il Lorese of Loro Piceno combines in this recipe white wine (15%) and aniseed with a small percentage of mistrà, an aniseed-flavoured distillate deeply rooted in the Marche. The rest of the recipe follows the ring-biscuit tradition: soft wheat flour, sugar and high-oleic sunflower oil.

The aniseed aroma is clear but not overpowering, the biscuit remains crumbly and not too sweet, with that light alcoholic note typical of traditional farmhouse sweets "soaked" in wine.

Perfect at the end of a meal, perhaps with a coffee or a glass of sweet wine.
