Champagne Bouzy Brut Réserve – Paul Bara
The Bara family has harvested the same vineyards in Bouzy since 1833, growing, vinifying and bottling everything in-house.
Bouzy is one of the seventeen Grand Cru villages of Champagne, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Today the estate, eleven hectares on clay-limestone soils, is run by Chantale Bara, sixth generation of the family.
This Brut Réserve is made from a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, from vines with an average age of 35 years, aged six years on the lees. The nose opens on spiced and honeyed notes, with a core of ripe fruit — Mirabelle plum, candied citrus, bergamot — that leads into a full, juicy palate dominated by yellow peach and closed by a touch of pepper.
Excellent with roasted white meats, cured meats, medium-aged cheeses, but also on its own as a serious aperitif.
