Casal di Serra 2024 – Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore

In the 1980s, Casal di Serra was among the first "single-vineyard selection" Verdicchio wines of the Marche.

Umani Ronchi was founded in the late 1950s in Cupramontana, the heart of Verdicchio Classico, later developed by the Bianchi-Bernetti family, who in 1968 moved the winery's core to Osimo. Casal di Serra is born from the selection of the best grapes of the Montecarotto vineyard, expanded over time with additional plots. Vines aged 8 to 30 years, clay and limestone soils, between 200 and 350 metres of altitude, farmed organically.

Hand-harvested in early October, fermented in temperature-controlled steel for 10-15 days, about 5 months of ageing in steel. Straw-yellow with golden highlights, a floral nose with yellow fruit, peach, apricot, golden apple, honey and ginger; a full, savoury, fresh palate.

Pairs well with both fish, baked or grilled, and a roast of white meat; also good alongside a still-fresh cheese. Recognised among Gambero Rosso's Berebene and awarded in the past by James Suckling and Wine Spectator.
